Guided Drawing
Guided drawing is a sensorimotor process oriented intervention that is used to release and resolve traumatic losses. While we use art materials it is not about making an artistic statement or product. Rather, we use the bilateral stimulation of moving paint and pastels on paper to release pain and to facilitate integration and healing.
I recommend that participants plan on scheduling at least 3 or 4 sessions.

Guided Drawing is designed for those individuals who are engaged in a personal healing journey to supplement individual therapy. This is a sensorimotor, process oriented activity that uses art materials but is not designed to produce a product or a piece of “art.” The guided drawing process helps to integrate different emotional and cognitive states that may be disconnected, disowned or dissociated from conscious awareness. The body stores trauma memories as unintegrated fragments. To access and release these elements or memories, we must engage the body and not just the mind. This is not about telling your story. This process is designed to access internal sensations and, through the movement of one’s hands and arms, and the manipulation of paint and pastel, release stored tension and blocks (trauma memories) from the body. In addition to physical tension, this process will bring up various emotions to be released through the process leaving the participant with an inner calm and confidence.
Guided Drawing can occur in individual and group sessions. Sessions typically last 1-2 hours. I recommended participants commit to a minimum of 3 sessions at a time.
If you are interested in learning more about this process or you would like to sign up, please call me at 207-706-6485 Please do not purchase a Guided Drawing session until after we have spoken.
