Barbara Davis, MSW, MFA, REAT, LCSW
Expressive Arts Therapy
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with training in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT) with training in trauma informed expressive arts therapy and mind-body medicine. I have been practicing for over 25 years, 15 of those years in my own practice.
I have a Masters of Social Work and a Master of Fine Arts from Rutgers University in NJ. In addition I have a Bachelor in Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. Since receiving my MSW in 1996, I have been privileged to have a rewarding career as a therapist, supervisor, teacher, consultant and agency director. Early in my social work career I worked primarily in addictions treatment programs, integrating the treatment of mental health disorders into traditional addiction treatment settings.
My post-graduate training includes a Certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the Center of Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis of New Jersey, Trauma Informed Expressive Arts Therapy and training in Mind-Body Medicine. In addition to my work as a therapist and expressive arts facilitator, I have taught graduate level social work courses, supervised other clinicians and been an agency director. I am licensed in the states of Maine and Vermont.
When I am not working I can be found in my art studio or outside moving my body and enjoying the natural world. I am particularly fond of cross country skiing, swimming, hiking, running and yoga.
